Will my vase hold water?
Where vases are glazed inside, this is to increase their functionality for holding flowers, as the glazed surface can be wiped clean more easily than an unglazed surface. I use stoneware clay because it is denser and better at holding liquids than earthenware. However, I would always recommend sitting any ceramic vessel on a coaster or mat of some kind to protect your surface because even if a vessel is well glazed inside, condensation of water vapour in the air can lead to ring marks.
